Bobs & Bangs is a FLINTA Berlin-based puppet and physical theatre ensemble founded in 2023 by Violeta Lupis (Greece), with Lucy Fourgs (France) and Azzie McCutcheon (UK). Each member of the ensemble comes from a different background, creating a marriage of approaches that give Bobs & Bangs its unique voice. They work with a multidisciplinary approach crossing puppetry, physical theatre, visual theatre, contemporary dance and voice.

Violeta Lupis (she/her)
Violeta Lupis is a Berlin based actress. Physical theater, clown mask, puppets and extroverted play, as well as intimate storytelling is often in the heart of her creative process.
Along camera work her theatre experience includes working with director Elena Sokratous for the play “Flieg Baby, flieg!” and Rachel Pattison and Platypus Theater for “Lucy and the Beast”, performing regularly in various theaters.
She is the artistic director of “imaγia – Wer jagt die Hexen?”, a visual theatre piece devised by the ensemble Bobs & Bangs. In 2023 and 2024, she received funding from the districts of Pankow, Neukölln, Spandau, Kreuzberg – Friedrichshain, Treptow – Köpenick, Charlottenburg – Wilmersdorf, Lichtenberg and Tempelhof – Schöneberg for its realisation.
In 2024, she received a residency grant from the Public Fund for Cultural Activities of the Republic of Slovenia for developing the concept of and facilitating the workshop “CLOWNprov”.
She has been teaching acting and directing for the company Stagecoach since 2023.
Her studies include a BA in the Faculty of Pedagogy from National and Kapodestrian University of Athens, diplomas in devised and physical theatre from both Arthaus Berlin and Atelier für Physisches Theater, intensive training diplomas in the techniques: Meisner, Linklater, Unfold. She has been part of improv comedy groups and experimenting with various “cabaret – like” formats since 2013.
She has been active in researching and promoting Democratic Education, she is a co-founder of EUDEC Greece and co-writer of the booklet of the Educational Programme: Sympraksis for Democracy in Education, Athens 2018.

Azzie McCutcheon (she/they)
Choreographer, dancer, performer and teacher
Azzie works across different performative genres including dance, circus, physical theatre, puppetry, and performance installation.
After completing a BA in theatre studies in 2009 and working as an actress in London, Azzie retrained in dance and completed an MA in choreography at Laban Conservatoire in 2014. During this time she became an associate to the DAP Lab, working with Johannes Birringer on immersive performance installations throughout Europe. She also received a scholarship for the SDIPT program with Jacky Lansley.
Azzie moved to Berlin in 2015 and gradually consolidated her research themes and practices. In 2021, she was awarded the Berlin Senate funded program ‘Pilot Residenzförderung Tanz’ through Lake Studios Berlin to create in-between with sound artist Diane Barbé, a performance exploring our sensory perception and the uncanny. In 2022, she received a research grant from DIS-TANZ-SOLO for her research project ‘Caricature’, exploring the illumination of elements of a character through dance. In 2021 she worked with collective ‘When we are 4 we r a mess’ awarded funding by the Berlin Senate, and in 2023 she began working with Bobs and bangs ensemble funded by KiA-Programm Berlin as deviser, performer and movement director.
As a dancer Azzie has worked with choreographers including Madeline Shann, Marcela Giesche and Dominique Baron-Bonjaree. She continues to dance contemporary dance and fusion belly dance at different venues and events, and teaches these practices in various institutions in Berlin. In 2024 she co-founded the movement research space ‘Movement kitchen’ in Kreuzberg, Berlin.

Lucy Fourgs (she/her)
Lucy is a physical theatre maker and performer with a diverse artistic background. Her artistic research focuses on the sense of wonder and dream in non linear narratives.
She holds a BA in Theatre: Writing, Directing, and Performing from the University of York, UK. She later earned a Master’s degree in Devised Physical Theatre and Embodied Dramaturgy from Arthaus, Berlin. She spent a year training and working with Studio Kokyu at the Grotowski Institute in Poland, where she continued to expand her creative horizons. She is an active member of the theatre company Bobs & Bangs since 2024.
After organizing a fundraiser for Clowns Without Borders and earning a certification with Theatre of the Oppressed, Lucy has made theater as a tool for societal change another key focus.
Lucy’s multidisciplinary practice spans singing, contemporary dance, object theatre and aikido, bringing a rich, textured approach to her work on stage.
